Provide Basic First Aid

This Basic First Aid course offers Learners the opportunity to learn first aid skills and to further develop existing skills in order that they can provide basic first aid treatment until more advanced help arrives at the scene.

Competence Achieved

Successful Learners receive:

• NZQA Unit Standard 6401, Level 2, Credit 1 - Provide first aid 
• NZQA Unit Standard 6402, Level 1, Credit 1 - Basic Life Support

Course Outline

• Scene Management
• Adult, Child and Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Airway Obstruction
• Choking
• Side Stable Position
• Provide First Aid

Assessment of First Aid Conditions may include:

• Treatment of Bleeding and Shock 
• Fractures, Soft tissue injuries, Burns, Poisoning
• Heat attack, asthma, stroke, seizure, diabetes
